Coaching Success Stories

A salesman has lost his joy for selling and his income was beginning to suffer. After engaging in the coaching process for six months, his income doubled. Coaching helped him remember what had originally attracted him to the sales profession: his joy in connecting with people and having the opportunity to listen to their life stories. Listening to people comes naturally to him and is one of his strengths. And by adding a plan or action thatmade him accountable for his daily actions, he generated the kind of results he desired.

A Director of a Woman's Health Care Organization felt that her current management didn't support her community programs and that she could soon be laid off. Working with a coach enabled her to be proactive in her job search before her position was terminated. Within a month, she had a new job with a pay increase with a management that encouraged and advocated her community outreach ideas.

After coaching for six months, the owner of a small graphics arts firm came to the conclusion that his business was not going to be profitable the way it was currently structured. He also discovered that he wasn't interested in being a business owner and that what he was passionate about was web design. He sold his business and took a position with a dot.com firm. Within a year, after working on his communication style and management skills with his coach, he was promoted to Director of Information Architecture.

When asked in an initial coaching session what she wanted to create in her life, a client responded quietly, "I want to write a one-woman show about my experiences in the army." Less than a year later, the show was written and was being performed to full houses. Coaching provided structure, support and resources that assisted her in making her dream a reality.

A writer secured a coach to help her work on her decision making process. During the coaching process, she overcame her fear of interviewing and successfully transitioned from low-paying reading work to more creative work and an increase in salary working in television. She also finished the first draft of a screenplay.

A technical professional was promoted to manager of his department. He worked with his coach to develop his leadership and management skills. Due to his improved leadership skills and focus, his team functioned with a high level of trust and rapport and subsequently increased overall productivity.

Testimonials

Life coaching has given me the courage to take a stand for my students.
- Middle School Principal

Without these weekly calls, I would not be focusing on the most important things in my life, in my family, my school, and my community. I now know where I can best use my talents to make a difference for poor and minority children.
- Elementary School Principal

Coaching gives me the direction to take, rekindles the passion about children's success, and gives me hope that we will make a difference for all children.
- High School Principal

When I don't know what to say or do, I remember my values, my beliefs, my hopes and my dreams. Then I clearly know what actions to take. Coaching has helped me realize that I have the answers within me if I stay true to those things.
- Superintendent

At the core of life, coaching is the opportunity to examine why you are an educator and superintendent or principal and look at the direction you wan to go. With this comes the great ability to make a difference for children. It takes away the fluff and gives you the core of what your profession is about. Life coaching helps you never be a halfway person. I've learned to delegate with support, providing enough direction and support. I've really lreaned to share the ownership and leadership with my staff and community members.
- Superintendent

I think that life coaching is the most efficient way I know to really empower leaders to do the right thing by children.
- Superintendent
